There is an Order control with an up (▲) and down (▼) button to sort the hierarchy of your custom fields.

Relationship to Portfolio Kanban View

The lifecycle stages you configured will now be visible in the Portfolio Kanban view, where you can track the progress of each initiative or outcome.

Note that different sets of stages can be applied to initiatives and outcomes.
