Filtering Reports

Overview

Discover how to optimize your Kiplot reports by applying and managing filters to tailor the data displayed according to your needs. Learn how to enhance your analysis with customized views that fit your specific goals.

Apply Basic Report Filters

Use Filter Options

Navigate to a report and find the Filters button on a tile.

Click the Filters button to open filter options.

Applying Filters

Apply a filter by locating the property you want to filter from the list. Clicking the dropdown icon will display the values within a filter option, allowing you to select or deselect items based on how you wish to filter the data on the tile.

Pin Commonly Used Filters

For filters you use frequently, you can pin them to easily access them whenever needed. This saves time and ensures that your preferred filters are always ready.

Locate the property you want to filter on and select the bookmark icon next to the property name.

Pinned filters will appear whenever you select 'Show Bookmarked & Applied Filters'. This feature helps you quickly find your most-used filters or filters that are already applied.

Save or Discard Filter Changes

After applying filters, you will see that your report will have an 'unsaved changes' tag next to the title of the page.

To save the filters you have applied to the page, click on the 'unsaved changes' text and select 'Update current page'. If you do not wish to save the changes, click the option to discard changes.

Updating a page will permanently update the filters, affecting how all users view the report. If this isn't your desired outcome, select "Discard Changes" to revert the page to its original state as it was when you first accessed it (before any filters were applied).

You can always update the page with your frequently used filters pinned, rather than applied, for quick and easy access to the filters.

Manage Advanced Filter Groups

Filter groups in Kiplot let you link tiles together, so applying a filter to one tile also updates other tiles in the same group. This ensures that the data you see across a page is consistent and cohesive.

Create and Apply Filter Groups

Step-by-step
  1. To create an advanced filter group, open the Advanced Filter sidebar and select Create Filter Group

  2. Choose the tiles you wish to link, rename the group, and select done

  3. To create more filter groups, select 'create group' and repeat the process

A single filter group should only contain tiles driven by the same dataset to ensure consistent filtering behavior and accurate data representation across all tiles within the group

Edit and Manage Filter Groups

To edit an existing filter group in Kiplot, start by opening the Manage Filter Groups modal. This modal allows you to view and manage your existing filter groups.

  1. Click the Manage Filter Groups button to open the modal.

  2. In the modal, find the list of filter groups and select the group you want to edit.

  3. The selected group will display its associated tiles in a highlighted state within the Tiles in Group list.

  4. Make any necessary changes to the tiles within the group by selecting or deselecting tiles.

  5. Once the edits are complete, click the Done button to save your changes.
